Triangle resident Kojo Essandoh, 56, was issued a court summons citing him for his role in the crash that claimed the life of Woodbridge resident Melanie Ruby Morales last month.

According to the Prince William Police Department, shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, Morales was traveling west on Old Bridge Road near Occoquan Road at a high rate of speed when "the operator lost control and separated from the motorcycle before sliding under and being run over by a 2009 Roll-off Dumpster truck" driven by Essandoh.

Morales was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was uninjured.

On Wednesday, Oct. 16, investigators said that Essandoh failed to maintain his lane which contributed to the fatal crash.

Morales was also speeding at the time, police say, which was a contributing factor in the crash.

Essandoh was cited and released on a court summons. His court date is pending.
